More responsibility entrusted with re-election: Maoist Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Newly elected CPN-Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he felt greater responsibility after being re-elected as the chairperson.

Addressing the gathering after being elected unopposed as the chairperson from the first meeting of the Central Committee held at the Heritage Garden at Sanepa Heights in Lalitpur Monday, he said that the responsibility of serving the nation and the people has fallen on his shoulders.

“I have had the opportunity to lead various historical events under the leadership of the party for a long time. I have had the opportunity to play a serious role in the turning point of history,” he said. “Looking at the situation of the party and the country, I feel compelled to remain active for some more time.”

Stating that political and ideological discussions were held among the delegates from all over the country at the Maoist General Convention, he urged not to be confused with the fact that the General Convention was not over in a light manner like the apolitical remarks of some people.

The remarks were an insult to about 1,800 delegates from all over the country, he added.

Stating that the general convention had worked to advance the Maoist party in favor of the revolutionary, proletarian and oppressed people, he said that a historic resolution has been taken by the convention to move ahead in favor of the nation and the people.
