UML finalizes 19 candidates for NA polls

Candidacy registration on Tuesday



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has finalized the candidates for the National Assembly (NA).

Deputy Chief of UML Publicity Department Bishnu Rijal said that the meeting of the UML Secretariat finalized 19 candidates for 19 NA seats turning vacant on March 5, 22.

The party picked Devraj Ghimire (Jhapa) from the open category, Sumitra Bhandari (Jhapa) from the women’s category and Sonam Galgen Sherpa (Solukhambu) from the minority category to contest NA polls in Province 1.

Likewise, Asarfi Bhinwar Yadav (Dhanusha) is picked from open category and Bina Sah (Rautahat) from the women’s category in Province 2.

In Bagmati Provice, the UML picked Gopal Shakya (Lalitpur) from open category and Nirkumari Kunwar (Niru) Darlami (Sindhuli) from women’s category.

Likewise, Punya Prasad Poudel (Kaski) (open category), Leela Pokhrel Thanet (Nawalpur) (women category) and Govinda Bahadur Nepali (Baglung) from Dalit category have been fielded in Gandaki Province.

The party picked Ram Dayal Gupta (Dang) from open category, Bharti Khanal (Banke) from women’s category and Krishna Bahadur Sunar (Gulmi) from Dalit category in Lumbini Province.

The UML fielded Chudamani Sharma (Surkhet) in the open category, Ganga Thapa Mahat (Jumla) in the women’s category and Padma Bahadur Majhi (Dailekh) in the minority category for Karnali Province.

Likewise, Dilli Raj Bhatt (Doti) from open category, Santosh Kumari Sharma (Kailali) from the women’s category and Naresh Bik (Baitadi) from the Dalit cluster in Sudurpaschim Province.

Candidacy filing for NA election is being held on Tuesday.
