Unified Socialist convenes meeting to select a candidate for National Assembly

KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist has convened a meeting to select candidates for the National Assembly (NA) elections.

According to Unified Socialist sources,  the party has called a meeting to select the candidates for the five seats allotted to it.

Earlier, the leaders of the ruling alliance had met at Prime Minister’s official residence to settle on the seats they would be contesting in the forthcoming NA election.

Unified Socialist party’s General Secretary Dr. Beduram Bhusal confirmed the news that the secretariat is preparing to hold a meeting on Monday to finalize the names of the candidates to contest from the party in the forthcoming NA election. However, Bhusal did not reveal the venue and time of the secretariat meeting.

The ruling alliance agreed to help the alliance candidate as per their political representation in National Assembly before. The alliance meeting, however, decided to share the seats formerly won by CPN-UML among each other.

Among the ruling coalition, the Unified Socialists will field candidates in all provinces except for Province 2 and Gandaki. The party is fielding one male and four female candidates in the election.
