NC holding CWC meeting, to discuss candidate selection for NA election

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) is holding a meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) at the party’s central office in Sanepa today.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has summoned the CWC meeting on Monday afternoon, according to NC party office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

The CWC meeting is likely to discuss finalizing coalition partners in the National Assembly election, nomination of candidates from the party and issues related to parliamentary committee, among other issues.

Nomination registration begins on Tuesday for the National Assembly election to be held on January 26.

The NC candidate for the National Assembly should be forwarded by the party’s Parliamentary Committee as per its statute.

However, due to lack of time, party President Deuba is preparing to take a mandate from the CWC meeting and make a decision of candidate selection for National Assembly.

The meeting will be the CWC’s second one after the 14th general convention concluded on December 14, 2021. The first meeting of the CWC after the general convention was held on December 25.

Meanwhile, NC President Deuba nominated three members to the CWC on Sunday and 10 members on Saturday, as per his prerogative.
