EC terms Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda’s explanation unsatisfactory

KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that the explanation given by the CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda regarding breach of code of conduct during the registration of nominations is not satisfactory.

Earlier when Prachanda reached Constituency 2 of Gorkha, a musical procession had accompanied him to the election office on October 9.

While responding to EC’s query why the Maoist Center Chairman broke the election code of conduct by taking a big mass and musical group to the election office, Prachanda had replied he had no idea on who played the music and he was not involved in it.

Dissatisfied at Prachanda’s reply, EC has asked the Chief Electoral Officer and Chief District Officer to further investigate on the issue.

EC has directed to find out the music band and the people involved in making such arrangements against election code of conduct.
