EC limits election spending for parties, candidates

The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday determined the ceiling of electoral spending for political parties/candidates.

The maximum limit of electoral spending was fixed based on the existing law, number of voters in constituency, number of polling centre and area.

The EC had earlier consulted the political parties on spending limit, while the parties had suggested EC not to fix the similar ceiling to all constituencies.

However, the basis of number of voters constitutes 60 percent on determination of spending limit, while 20 percent each to polling centre and area of constituency.

Twelve parties file amendment to closed list under proportional system

Twelve smaller parties submitted the revised list on the closed list towards the proportional system they had given to the Election Commission before this.

The nation is going to the House of Representatives and National Assembly member election on November 20.

The seven-day deadline that the Election Commission had given to these parties for any revisions to the list of members under the proportional representation system of election expired today.

Avalanche hits Manaslu Base Camp

 A huge avalanche hit Manaslu Base Camp on Sunday. The incident was confirmed by Tashi Sherpa who was trying to climb the eighth-highest mountain in the world at 8,163 meters.

In a video shared by Tashi, avalanches can be seen descending toward the base camp. He further divulged that few tents were destroyed in the avalanche with no human casualties, adding, “more than 3 dozen tents have been damaged today.”

Some of the expedition companies are calling off their attempt for the season.

Notably, it comes a week after the last one, which had left two persons dead.

Nepal sees 33 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 33 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Sunday.

Of the confirmed cases, 30 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 03 through the Antigen method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,375 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of them, 850 samples were tested through RT-PCR and 525 through the Antigen method.

China provides 14 excavators to 14 municipalities

The Chinese government has provided excavators to Chumanubri Rural Municipality of Gorkha.

The Nepali Army is currently opening a road track in Chumanubri, which is not connected to a road network.

Excavators have been provided to 14 municipalities in 14 bordering districts, including Chumanubri.

Phulpati dispatched towards Kathmandu from Gorkha Durbar

A palanquin containing the Phulpati has been send from the Dashainghar in Gorkha Durbar to be carried all the way to Hanumandhoka Durbar in Kathmandu.

Phulpati is an assortment of flowers, leaves and fruits of different plants considered auspicious and it is anointed at the Dashain Ghar on the seventh day of the Bada Dashain festival.

The ritualistic shipment was given a send off from the Gorkha Dashainghar at the auspicious hour of 7.10 am by the Dashainghar’s caretaker performing the associated Vedic rituals.

Itahari’s former Mayor Chaudhary joins Maoist Center

Dwarika Lal Chaudhary, the former mayor of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan, has joined the Maoist Center.

Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda welcomed Chaudhary to the party at his residence at Khumaltar on Sunday morning.

Prachanda informed through the social network Twitter that Chaudhary and other UML leaders and activists joined the Maoist Center.
