Lawmakers voice against the government

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have raised voices on different issues in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.

Demanding special time soon after the beginning of today’s meeting, lawmaker Padam Giri asked the government to immediately unlock the lockout at the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University.

Giri said the padlock has affected both the university and students alike, adding the office of the Vice-Chancellor was vandalized on August 24.

Similarly, Jeep Tshering Lama said Gaurishanker rural municipality-9 of Dolakha suffered huge loss due to incessant rainfall and drew government’s attention for rehabilitation of those, who have become homeless, and to provide relief to the victims.

Lama urged the Election Commission to scrap the legal arrangement of providing tickets to both– husband and wife in coming elections of House of Representatives and Province Assembly.

Likewise, Girirajmani Pokharel said cases are being filed against loan shark across the country mainly in Tarai-Madhes and loan shakers have also been arrested.

He further said that some loan sharks of Mahottari have been arrested and such cases should not be made weak.

Pokharel mentioned, “Loan shark victims of Sarlahi, Nawalparasi and Saptari have been launching agitation for the past one months in Kathmandu. But their problems have not been resolved yet. I want to draw government’s attention towards it.”
