Dharan UML accuses Mayor Harka Rai of making irresponsible statements

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has accused Mayor of Dharan sub-metropolis Harka Sampang Rai of making irresponsible statements.

UML Dharan Chair Harka Jung, issuing a statement on Tuesday, objected to Mayor Sampang’s statement on victims of Baraha Savings and Credit Cooperative.

UML’s statement read, “Mayor Rai’s recent remarks have tainted the image, glory and dignity of Dharan residents, sub-metropolitan city office and people’s representatives.”

The UML said Rai himself was responsible for the incident in which the mayor’s office was vandalized.

Stating that the incident happened after Mayor Rai gave tried to flunk on the issues of victims, the UML Dharan said, “The situation has got worse following the use of threatful language against the victims through social media.”

The UML viewed the party was being defamed by tying Baraha Struggle Committee Coordinator Khagendra Nepal to former Deputy Mayor Manju Bhandari and thereby, the entire UML.

The party added communal harmony was shaking due to Mayor Rai’s statement.
