Longtime communist Kumar Shrestha joins Kamal Thapa-led RPP-Nepal

KATHMANDU: A longtime communist contributing to the communist movement Kumar Shrestha has joined Kamal Thapa’s Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N).

RPP-N Chairperson Kamal Thapa welcomed Shrestha, a central member of the CPN (ML), and central member Bir Singh Tamang to the party at a program on Saturday.

On the occasion, Chairman Thapa claimed that RPP-N would move ahead in the national politics in a strong manner.

Stating that the trilateral alliance of political party leaders, bureaucracy and middlemen has plunged the country into a quagmire of problems, he said the people should be aware of the need to end proselytizing, unemployment, corruption and misgovernance.

Thapa added the only solutions to the current problems were a fully proportional electoral system, existence of just central and local level structures, and a directly elected prime minister.

New entrant Shrestha agreed that the path taken by RPP-N would defend national sovereignty, preserve democracy and bring prosperity to the country.
