Free education for unaccompanied children



GALKOT: The Tamankhola Rural Municipality of Baglung has started providing free education to helpless and orphaned children.

The municipality has started educating 16 children after putting them in children’s home.

Chairperson of the rural municipality, Joklal Budhamagar, has implemented the plan to educate accompanied children and also sponsor MBBS degree education to the three students who bring excellent marks in the municipality.

He had made the promise before assuming office for the second term.

The rural municipality has started operating a children’s home in ward no. 3 of the rural municipality.

Free education along with shelter are being provide to 16 children residing in the children’s home.

They will study at a nearby community school and the rural municipality and children’s home Steering Committee will manage food and accommodation along with free tuition for them up to grade 12.

The children’s home fund, which was started with a grant of Rs. 200,000 from the rural municipality, has already received Rs.800,000 from other donors.

Similarly, the people’s representatives including the chair Budhamagar, the vice-chair and ward chairs have pledged to give five percent of their salary to the children’s home during their tenure.
