 Himalayan Airlines and Air China resume regular flight services

KATHMANDU: Himalayan Airlines and Air China have resumed regular flight services.

Deputy Chief of Mission under the Nepali Embassy in Beijing Kaushal Kishore Ray informed that China is set to resume regular air services.

Ray said that Himalayan Airlines has already started regular flights and that of Air China will start coming Sunday.

Himalayan Airlines started regular flights from Kunming, China on Tuesday. From now on, the airline will operate regular flights every Tuesday. Earlier, Himalayan Airlines had been conducting chartered flights.

Air China is also preparing to fly to Kathmandu from China. Air China is preparing to fly to Kathmandu every Sunday.

Economy class tickets for both airlines are priced at the US $2,130. In addition, passengers will have to pay US$ 600 as a quarantine fee.

China has made it a rule to stay in quarantine for five days in Nepali hotels before boarding a flight to China. Besides, there is a rule to stay in quarantine for 14 days even after landing in China.

Commercial flights from China were suspended following the outbreak of the coronavirus almost two years ago. A joint statement issued during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Nepal from March 25 to 27 also agreed to facilitate direct air transport between China and Nepal.

Similarly, China is preparing to take back medical students studying in China in the coming September.
