Nepal Bar holding polls to elect new leadership today



KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) is holding polls to elect its 26th Central Committee today.

The competition is being held between progressive legal professionals’ group led by senior advocate Bishnu Mani Adhikari and democratic legal professionals’ group led by Gopal Ghimire.

According to Surendra Mahato, a member of the election committee, the election will start from 35 different places across the country at 8 am. The voting will last until 4 pm.

The central committee will have 25 members including 11 office-bearers.

A total of 9,708 advocates are casting their votes in the elections to elect a new leadership today. Of them, 5,700 voters are in the Kathmandu Valley, while 3,500 are outside the Valley.

Four booths have been set on the premises of the Supreme Court to this end, said Mahato.
