KATHMANDU: The Samata Foundation has demanded the implementation of constitutional provisions on rights of Dalit people as per the order issued by the Supreme Court.

The SC on Tuesday had issued an order asking the government and federal parliament secretariat to ensure Dalit people’s rights with necessary arrangement within three months.

The Foundation issued a press release and reminded the government on SC order and also appealed to social organization, rights defenders and media for their special initiative to help implement the court order.

“The government and its agencies as Dalit Commission were in different to the effective implementation of Article 24 and 40 of the Constitution of Nepal,” the press statement read, adding that the SC’s directional order has encouraged the entire Dalit community.

Earlier, advocate Prakash Nepali had filed a writ petition at SC, demanding mandamus that asks the government for effective enforcement of Article 24 and 40 with necessary legal and policy arrangement.
