Speaker attempted ‘bullying’ by blocking the MCC proposal taken by the government: KP Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli has accused Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota of ‘bullying’ by blocking the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) proposal taken to the parliament by the government.

Addressing the UML’s  Secretariat meeting held in Bhaktapur, the UML chair accused the coalition parties of trying to create confusion by spreading unnecessary rumors about the MCC.

Chairman Oli argued that the Speaker had no right to hold the proposals taken ahead by the government.

“The right to decide whether to accept or refuse the proposal lies in parliament, the Speaker needn’t stretch his muscle unnecessarily in it,” he said, “The Speaker should not stop the proposal taken by the government.”

UML Chair Oli also accused the government  of violating the Constitution, and prevalent laws by not scheduling the local election date as per the Constitution.
