Police nab employees of two hospitals and intermediaries for giving PCR report without test

KATHMANDU: Employees of two hospitals and a middleman have been arrested on the charge of making fake PCR report.

According to metropolitan police sources, the employees and intermediaries of Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital Limited in Bhaktapur and Kantipur Hospital in Tinkune involved in preparing fake PCR report were arrested on Tuesday.

A team from the crime branch of the metropolitan police raided and arrested four people.  Among the arrested are Roshan Kumar Chhittan, 25, Bideha Municipality-4, Dhanusha, now living in Gwarkko Lalitpur, Nagendra Yadav, 25, of Chhireshwor-1, Dhanusha, now living in Gaushala, Madhav Mainali, 21, of Temal Gaonpalika-5, Kavre, now living in Suryabinayak and Prashanna Kumar Jha, 24, of Balara Municipality-7, Sarlahi, now living in Kaushaltar. Jha is a lab manager of the Civil. Prashan Kumar Jha, a 24-year-old resident of Kaushaltar, is the lab manager of the Nagarik hospital.

According to SP Krishna Koirala, apart from Chhittan, all the arrested are the employees of the hospital.

SP Koirala informed that two persons involved in the false report making are still absconding. Among the fugitives are Bhavesh Mishra, 40, PCR Lab Director of Bhaktapur Duwakot and Nirmal Giri, 40, PCR Lab Director of Kantipur Hospital.

One computer monitor, one laptop, three CPUs, PCR registration registers, PCR reports, and receipts used to generate PCR reports were recovered from them. Police recovered five mobiles with details of illegal activities.

According to SP Koirala, they used to make fake PCR reports for people going for foreign employment.

Chhittan, who was carrying the identity card of an employee of a civil hospital, was arrested by the branch along with eight fake PCR reports in front of the airport at around 10.30 am on Tuesday. After that, the lab manager of the hospital Jha was arrested by the police.

Nagendra Kumar Yadav, an employee of Kantipur Hospital, was arrested in front of the hospital along with 17 fake PCR reports.

Mainali, an employee of the lab, was arrested along with four PCR reports which were declared negative without any test.

The investigation revealed that they declared  the PCR report negative without testing.

The frauds are found selling the PCR reports up to Rs 10,000 per report.
