Six killed in Palpa bus accident identified



PALPA: Six out of seven persons killed in the Palpa bus accident have been identified.

Four are from Malarani Rural Municipality-2 alone. They are Bhojendra BK, 28; Shankar BK, 25: Mohan Kunwar, 26; and Arjun Sunar, 33. Similarly, two others are Bijay Thapa, 32, from Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-11; and Pashupati Rasali, 30, from Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-17. Another deceased in the accident was Khum Bahadur Rana, according to District Police Office, Palpa.

A bus (Lu 1 Kha 7279) heading to Ridi from Butwal was ferrying a dead body and the cortege for funeral rites met with an accident at Laghuwa of Ribdikot Rural Municipality-2. The bus fell 60 meters down the roadway. It was ferrying the dead body of Bir Bahadur BK.

In the accident, 16 persons were injured. The injured ones have been receiving treatment at Lumbini Medical College, and United Mission Hospital, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rameshwor Twati.

The bus met the accident at sloppy bending. The police concluded that the road was slippery and bus was in high speed. It took time for the police to rescue because the dead ones were crushed and trapped.
