Jhapa Gold Cup taking place on March 5-14



BIRTAMOD: The fifth edition of Jhapa Gold Cup is taking place on March 5-14.

The venue for the tournament is Domalal Rajbamshi Stadium in Birtamod, Jhapa. The game was halted since two years due to global COVID-19.

The event aims to develop Jhapa as a football hub, said Binod Basnet, chairperson of the Gold Cup amid a press conference here on Sunday.

Nine Nepali teams and one foreign team will participate in the match. The winner will receive Rs 1255,000 in cash and first runner-up Rs 605,000.

Most valuable player will win a motorcycle. Similarly, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder and best coach will win Rs 21,000 each and top scorer Rs 25,000.

Man of the match of each game will get Rs 9,999. The match is expected to cost Rs 14 million.

A five-member secretariat under the leadership of the Gold Cup general secretary Gajendra Bahadur Paudel has been formed for the tournament.
