KATHMANDU: The Airport Security Police has arrested a Saurya Airlines employee with 5 million rupees from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu on Sunday.

According to Surendra Parasad Mainali, the Chief of Airport Security Police,  Police nabbed a female staff of Saurya Airlines when she came to collect the noodle cartoon with Rs 5 million inside it.

“Rekha Shakya Pokhrel has been arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport with Rs 5 million hidden in a cartoon of noodles,” Mainali said, “She is an employee of Saurya Airlines, who had come to the airport to collect the money.”

Police cuffed her on the basis of special information.

he money was found inside a cartoon of current noodles in a red mail bag with Bhadrapur written on it. Inside the cartoon were 4,950 notes of one thousand rate and one thousand notes of 500 rate.

Police said that the recovered money was handed over to Pokharel for further investigation.

There is a legal provision that every transaction above one million has to be done through banking system.
