HUMLA: Ninety percent of children in Humla have received the Moderna vaccine against Coronavirus.

In collaboration with the health office, all the seven local levels have completed the work of vaccinating the school children.

According to Man Bahadur Rokaya, a cold chain assistant at the health office, 90.61 percent of the children between the ages of 12 and 17 have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

A total of 5,497 children of that age group of the municipality have been vaccinated through 61 vaccination centers.

Of them, 1,414 are from Simkot, 331 from Namkha, 603 from Kharpunath, 1,177 from Adanchuli, 567 from Tanjkot, 576 from Chankheli and 827 from Sarkegad.

Children of Limi and Yari of North Namkha rural municipality-6 have been deprived of vaccination.

Extreme cold and heavy snowfall in the area have made it difficult for health workers and vaccinators to reach the area.

He said that it has not been decided yet when the children will be vaccinated.

Similarly, a campaign will soon be launched to vaccinate the children of Nekpagaun in Changkheli rural municipality-1 and 5 in the southern region.

Only 6,370 doses of Moderna vaccine had arrived in the district. More than 5,000 children have been vaccinated and now there are 229 doses left, according to the health office.

The target was to vaccinate 9,940 children in the age group of 12 to 17 years in the district.

Children who have received the first dose have to be vaccinated 28 days later.
