NC leader Koirala denounces govt decision over IGP appointment

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala has denounced the government decision of appointing Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Sunday.

A cabinet meet held today (Sunday) appointed Dhiraj Pratap Singh as new IGP of Nepal Police.

Taking to Twitter, leader Koirala slammed the government move of appointing new IGP.

Stating that the government appointed IGP by violating procedures and principle of seniority, Koirala said, “The decision of the government has made a mockery of the rule of law.”

“The government’s decision has once again brought the entire police force into controversy,” his tweet read.

Singh was appointed IGP despite him being a junior than two other Additional Inspector General’s recommended by the Home Ministry for the post.
