EC has not made any decision without consulting political parties: Chief Commissioner Thapaliya

KATHMANDU: Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya said that the Election Commission (EC) has not taken any decision on its own without consultation with the political parties.

Speaking at ‘Concern for Clean and Fair Election’ program organized by NGO Federation Nepal in Lalitpur on Friday, the Chief Commissioner said that all the decisions taken by EC have been based on the written consent of the political parties.

Chief Commissioner Thapaliya remarked that EC changed the color of the ballot paper taking the consent political parties.

Defending the Commission decision to provide two days for the nomination of the candidacy, he said that there are more than 900 candidates in a metropolis, so it takes two days to nominate for nomination.

Thapaliya recalled that the nomination process for the local level election of 2015 had taken all day, all night and till the next morning.

He said that the issue of green color in the ballot paper was not a big issue and the commission was working to make it easier.
