Doubts over MCC removed with explanatory note: Madhav Kumar Nepal



KATHMANDU: CPN-Unified Socialist Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that any apprehensions over US grant aid project, MCC have been removed after it approved by the House of Representatives with an explanatory note.

Speaking at a press meet, Nepal said his party stood in favor of the MCC pact along with the explanatory note. Also former Prime Minister, he said that the parties in the ruling coalition decided to endorse the MCC with an explanatory note in order to maintain the supremacy of the Constitution and parliament and establish the rule of law.

Unified Socialist  Chair Nepal said that his party had taken a firm stand that the MCC agreement should not be ratified without clarifying the ambiguities of the MCC agreement.

Stating that the country has moved forward with the approval of MCC with explanatory note, he said that the conspiracy to wipe out the party has been neutralized. “A conspiracy was hatched to end the existence of our party on February 13,” Chair Nepal said, “but those conspiracies did not succeed.”

On a different note, Nepal said that it was but natural for China to express concern in case any threat to it from Nepal’s territory. “We do not consider it unnatural for China and India to be interested in hostile activities from Nepal’s territory. We want to say that Nepal pursue a non-aligned foreign policy,” he said.

Likewise, he said that the Unified Socialist Party would stand firmly in support of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. He said that the speaker was protecting the rights of the parliament and the parliamentarians. He also warned the UML not to make unreasonable allegations against the speaker.
