Dharan Sub-Metropolis to raze illegal huts

DHARAN: The Dharan Sub- Metropolis has decided to remove shelters constructed illegally on public area in the town since 2072 BS.

The local government has come up with a demolition drive against illegal shanties as the human encroachment on public lands including along the Sardu River Area in Dharan-16 has gone uncontrolled, it has been said.

According to Mayor Tilak Rai, an-all party meeting held in the presence of Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav on Sunday agreed to vacate encroached public area. The campaign to pull down such structures will start from the latest encroached area at ward No 7 and will expand to other areas.

The meeting was convinced that illegal structures built haphazardly in the open and on public lands are enough to spoil the beauty of town. It is said land encroachment is taking place in the name of landless squatters and they have reportedly a political backup.
