Maoist Center to adopt collective leadership system, CC to fix the  number of office bearers

KATHMANDU: The 8th General Convention of CPN-Maoist Center has decided to adopt collective leadership system in the party.

Addressing the queries of the delegates of the convention in the closed session of the general convention on Friday, leader Dev Prasad Gurung  said that the party is adopting collective leadership in the party.

Gurung, also the coordinator of the party statute draft committee, informed the delegates that the number of office bearers will be fixed by the party’s central committee. Meeting.

Earlier, taking part in the panel discussion during the closed session, mos tof the leaders had opined that the party should consider giving prerogative to party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as duing their ‘people’s war’ days.

Maoist Center had formed 25 groups to discuss on the political dossier and statute amendment draft prepared by party Chair Prachanda and leader Gurung respectively.

Earlier, the legislature had a provision to nominate 10 percent central members in the 299-member central committee. Now the statute is being amended to increase the number of nominees by 15 percent.

Similarly, amendments are being made to allow the District Coordinating Committee to nominate up to 25 percent central members.
