Maoist General Convention endorses Chair Prachanda’s political report



KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center’s ongoing eighth general convention has endorsed the ideological and political report of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The closed-door session passed the report after Chair Prachanda responded to issues raised on the report. However, the party chair kept his mum on the supplementary and dissenting views forward by leaders Ram Karki, Lekhnath Neupane and Haribol Gajurel.

Chair Prachanda tabled the report on Monday in the closed-door session of the convention that kicked off Sunday. Maoist leader Dev Gurung also tabled a proposal to amend the statute of the party at the convention.

The proposals were discussed by general convention delegates by forming 25 different groups. Team leaders of the groups presented the summary of discussions throughout Wednesday and Thursday, giving suggestions and raising concerns. The Maoist chair addressed those suggestions and concerns today.

The Maoist general convention is to elected a working committee comprising 299 members, including 15 office-bearers.
