KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against three persons, including the ward chair of Ishwarpur Municipality-11 of Sarlahi, on the charge of taking bribe at the Special Court in Kathmandu Friday.

A case has been lodged against ward chairman Ram Dular Sah, ward members Sonelal Sah Rauniyar and Umesh Raya.

The charge sheet filed by CIAA stated that the three were found to have taken a bribe of Rs. 150,000 from the consumers’ committee for issuing a certificate of completion of construction of Bhulai road. The charge sheet further stated that Rauniyar and Sah received the bribe on ward Chair Sah’s directive and failed to uphold dignity of their positions.

The CIAA also lodged another case against former Chair Rajendra Thebe of Ilam’s Juntara Community Forest Consumers’ group on charges of embezzlement of funds.

Charge sheet against Thebe stated that he forged signature of treasurer to withdraw money and also received bribe from a contractor sawmill assuring them to provide timber from the forest without informing other officials of the forest consumers’ group.
