Poor visibility affects domestic and int’l flights at TIA

KATHMANDU: Domestic and international flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) have been affected due to thick fogs and mists.

Both landings and take-offs of the flight services have been hit due to the poor visibility at the TIA.

The flight services of both domestic and international flights from and to the TIA have been affected to poor visibility, said the TIA terminal office. Two airplanes of Jazeera Airways coming to Kathmandu from Kuwait are now taking rounds in the sky of Simara.

The TIA, where 50 international and 300 domestic flights on average take place on a daily basis, operates from 6 am to midnight.

Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said that many parts of the country have been covered in thick fogs and mists, currently.

The westerly low-pressure system and the low-pressure system formed in the Indian State of Bihar is causing minor impact in the weather system of Nepal, according to the Division.

Similarly, light snowfall is expected in high hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki and Pradesh 1, said the Division.
