Maoist Center’s General Convention: Process for leadership selection to begin today



KATHMANDU: The closed session of the 8th general convention of the CPN-Maoist Center will resume today.

The report of the Accounts, Discipline and Election Commission is scheduled to be presented in the closed session on Friday.

The closed session was extended till Friday even though the convention was to end on Thursday.

The session had to be extended as additional two days were required to announce the outcome of the group discussion on Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s “Prachanda” political report while the leadership selection process is yet to begin.

Hence, the conference is likely to continue until Saturday if the election program is not completed on Friday.

Chief of the party’s Election Commission, Bishnu Pukar Shrestha said that all election programs would be taken forward after the draft statute is endorsed.

The fifth day of the General Convention and the fourth day of the closed session continued on Thursday.

On Thursday, the ideological and political document titled ‘Nepali way of Socialism in the 21st Century’ presented by party Chair “Prachanda” and the findings of the group discussion on the draft legislation presented by standing committee member Dev Prasad Gurung were presented.
