KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling CPN-Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal has expressed concern over the growing corruption in the country.
Addressing the first national convention of the Socialist Engineering Association in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said corruption was widespread in the country.
Chairman Nepal alleged that corruption had crossed the line during the government led by UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli. Urging everyone to think about why the country was not well developed, he said the Unified Socialist would drive the country in a new direction ahead.
Concerned with the construction of a helipad in Baluwatar during Oli’s term, the Unified Socialist chair said that the preceding government had not understood the importance of people’s hard work and failed to appreciate the sweat of the people.
“When I was the prime minister I did not see such corruption in the system. Maybe others did a little but during Oli’s period as prime minister corruption crossed limits and he was the one who said he did not do corruption and could not tolerate it,” Chair Nepal said, adding, “Investigation has to be done. This country needs new ideas.”
