CJ Rana schedules 12 cases for hearing

KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has scheduled 12 cases for hearing today.

Chief Justice Rana scheduled the benches despite the boycott of the Supreme Court judges and the protests by the Nepal Bar Association.

Meanwhile, hearing of cases at the Supreme Court looks uncertain today as well since the SC Justices are upping the ante against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, calling for his resignation.

The writ petitions scheduled for hearing last week had been boycotted by Justices.

All the Supreme Court Justices have concluded that CJ Rana should step down on moral grounds.

Judges have been boycotting the benches for a week, demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Rana.

Similarly, the Nepal Bar Association has also started a phase-wise agitation from today, giving an ultimatum of five days to resign.

The Association staged a protest program at the Supreme Court from 10 am to 11 am today by wearing black bands.

The Bar has urged all legal practitioners in the Kathmandu Valley to participate in the protest program.

They have been demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendta Shumsher Rana.
