10 lawmakers in Sudurpaschim side with Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist

KATHMANDU: As many as 10 of the total 25 CPN-UML provincial lawmakers have sided with Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN Unified Socialist in Sudurpaschim Province.

The 10 provincial lawmakers elected from the UML in the province on Tuesday identified themselves with the Unified Socialist at office of the provincial Election Commission (EC) in Dhangadi following the formal split of the parent party.

Among those identified are provincial Minister Purna Joshi and Lal Bahadur Khadka, State Ministers Chun Kumari Chaudhary and Man Kumari Saud, Chief Whip Durga Kumari Kami, former Minister Maya Bhatta, lawmakers Sushila Budhathoki, Kulbir Chaudhary, Amar Saud and Bal Bahadur Sodari.

It is learnt that some more Sudurpaschim lawmakers are set to identify themselves with the Unified Socialist in the province till the EC’s set date, September 7.

Earlier, 18 out of 25 UML lawmakers, including the Speaker, openly sided with the Nepal faction and 7 were in the KP Oli faction. It is understood that some lawmakers have decided to remain in the UML after UML Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal left leader Nepal’s side.
