Main accused of assault on medics in Dang surrenders before the police



DANG: The main accused in the case of assault of Medical Superintendent of Rapti Regional Hospital Dr. Binod Singh has surrendered to the police on Tuesday.

According to District Police Office Dang, Surgeon Pariyar, a district leader of CPN-UML’s student union All Nepal Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) who had physically assaulted Dr. Singh, has been nabbed after he surrendered to the police.

Police had arrested two persons, on Monday, in connection with the assault on the physician. Pariyar himself appeared at the District Police Office, Dang on Tuesday.

According to the District Police Office, Dang, Pariyar has surrendered at the police office and further investigation is underway.

DSP and spokesperson of the District Police Office Dang Mukunda Rijal confirmed the arrest.

UML leader Bibek Shrestha had taken Pariyar to the District Police Office.

Earlier, the medics had taken to the street demanding the arrest of the people including Pariyar involved in the mishandling of the doctor.

However, alleged Pariyar has warned to stage a hunger-strike in the custody claiming that he was not involved in the incident.
