KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur to join the government, saying he is in the process of forming a national consensus government.
CPN-UML Standing Committee member Subash Nembang, talking to the press, said the PM proposed forming a national government to JSP leaders at a meeting held at the PM’s residence Monday morning.
He added JSP Chairman Thakur was positive about the proposal, however, he sought few days to accept the proposal officially.
It is learnt that Thakur has sought time to get the proposal approved by the majority and Executive Committee of the party and to work out technicalities in the party.
UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and leader Subash Nembang were present at the meeting held between PM Oli and JSP leaders in Baluwatar earlier Monday.
Similarly, JSP leaders Rajendra Mahato, Sharad Singh Bhandari, Sarvendranath Shukla and Laxman Lal Karna were present in the meeting along with Chairman Thakur.
