Prez Bhandari writes to UK’s Queen asking for COVID vaccines

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Bhandari has written a letter to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (UK) requesting the latter to provide COVID-19 vaccines for Nepal.

According to Nepali Embassy in London, the President’s letter was handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UK on Sunday.

President Bhandari on Sunday also wrote a letter to her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin asking for the vaccines.

Bhandari has also written letters to American President Joe Biden and Indian counterpart Ram Nath Kovind regarding it.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced to provide one million COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal following a telephone conversation between President Bhandari and her Chinese counterpart Xi.

A Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) airbus is flying to Beijing to bring Chinese vaccines at 11 pm today.
