Bhimdatta Highway comes into operation

KATHMANDU: Bhimdatta Highway, which connects seven hilly districts in Sudurpashchim Pradesh, has come into operation since this morning.

The highway was reopened after a dozer of the Road Division Office cleared the snow, said the District Police Office, Doti.

Dozens of vehicles and passengers were stranded in the middle of the highway since Wednesday morning due to heavy snowfall at Gaira, Sahunkharka and Hagulte Lake.

According to Ghanteshwor Police Post, the vehicles and passengers left for their respective destinations as soon as the highway was opened.

According to the police, snowfall is still continuing in the upper Lekali area of the hilly district.

Similarly, snow has been falling in Khaptad area, a major tourist destination of the far west, since last night. With the snowfall, the mercury has gone down in the region, forcing the citizens to stay indoors.
