NC Veep Nidhi calls for giving full shape to party’s Central Election Committee



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi has demanded promptly giving full shape to the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC).

The NC CEC has only four members at present after senior Advocate Mahadev Yadav resigned as CEC coordinator. The NC statute mandates a five-member CEC.

NC president candidate Nidhi said the legitimacy of the election would be questioned if the CEC is not given full shape.

Nidhi was of the view that no post should be vacant in the CEC before the province convention. “Conducting conventions with a CEC with a vacant post would send a negative message,” he said, adding, “A complete CEC conducting the general convention would be better.”

He opined that either Yadav should be asked to withdraw his resignation or another person should be appointed to the vacant post.

Saying that Yadav had resigned in a hurry, Nidhi viewed that even approval of Yadav’s resignation was also a hasty move.
