LONDON: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba arrived here on Friday night leading a Nepali high-level delegation to attend the World Leaders’ Summit under UN COP26 conference being held in Glasgow, Scotland.
Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal MP Birendra Sharma and Charge d’affaires at the Embassy of Nepal in London Roshan Khanal, among others welcomed Prime Minister Deuba at London’s Heathrow International Airport.
The delegation led by Prime Minister Deuba will stay in London on Saturday and Sunday and will be busy with various meetings and programs, according to the Foreign Ministry. Similarly, PM Deuba is scheduled to meet with some members of the House of Lords and House of Commons as well as with former Defense Minister, Lord Lancaster on Saturday morning local time.
PM Deuba will meet dignitaries from the Britain-Nepal Society as well as Britain-Nepal NGOs Network at noon. Similarly, Deuba is scheduled to meet with representatives of Nepalis communities in the UK and the office-bearers of Non-Residential Nepali Association (NRNA) Nepal. He will also address the welcome ceremony to be organized by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal (APPG-N) and the UK-Nepal Trade and Investment today evening.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PM Deuba will attend the reception to be hosted by the Nepali Embassy in London. Prior to that, the PM will meet representatives of the Gurkha Veterans organizations.
The PM, leading the 21-member Nepali delegation, will depart for Edinburg to reach Glasgow on Sunday evening. The COP-26 conference is being held in Glasgow, Scotland from October 31 to November 12.
The Nepali entourage includes Minister for Forests and Environment Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharatraj Poudyal, Forest Secretary Dr Prem Narayan Kandel, Secretary of the National Planning Commission Kewal Prasad Bhandari and Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini. Similarly, Chair of the National Nature Conservation Fund Dr Madhav Bahadur Karki, Chief of Protocol Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi and other senior officials, personal security officers and media persons are also in the delegation.
