Chinese Ambassador Yanqi pays courtesy call on Finance Minister Sharma

KATHMANDU:  Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi has paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Janardan Sharma on Friday.

In the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, Finance Minister Sharma thanked the Chinese government for its assistance to Nepal in its fight against COVID-19 and reconstruction of the heritages damaged by the mega earthquake.

Minister Sharma also expressed belief that this kind of assistance would continue in the future, too.

The China government has provided Nepal 1.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in donation.

Sharma also assured that the Nepal government would leave no stone unturned to ensure safety and security for the China-invested projects including hydropower in Nepal.

In response, Chinese Ambassador Yanqi congratulated Minister Sharma on his appointment as the Finance Minister of the Nepal government and said that China’s way of looking at Nepal will not change irrespective of party taking over the helm of the government.

She further said that the China government and its people will always remain with Nepal and extend help in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
