UML’s GC meeting seeks Minister Shrestha’s resignation



KATHMANDU: Participants of ruling CPN-UML’s 10th General Convention organizing committee meeting called by party Chairman KP Oli have demanded resignation of Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha for the latter’s controversial role in releasing the caste discrimination  alleged  Saraswati Pradhan from police.

According to UML sources, the party’s central committee member Jagat Bishwokarma accused Minister Shrestha of promoting caste-based discrimination.

“It is unfortunate that Minister Shrestha encouraged caste discrimination by helping the alleged of caste-based discrimination. It’s against the ethics of communism and is also a crime before the law. Minister Shrestha should resign from the post,” the source quoted Bishwokarma’s remarks in the meeting.

Minister Shreshta allegedly abused his power and directed for the release of Pradhan, a landlord of a house at Babarmahal and offered lift up to her home.
