UML Chair Oli issues circular for strengthening and making party more relevant

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, issuing a circular to the party rank and file, has said the party would be strengthened and made more relevant in the country.

The UML Chair issued the circular analyzing the latest developments in the political landscape and outlining action against leaders of Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of the party.

The circular says the Standing Committee would take action against 5 Karnali Province Assembly (PA) members and 27 others who aided and abetted the floor-crossing event along with carrying parallel activities. The party sought clarification from the 32 UML leaders earlier.

It also says the Supreme Court foiled the bid to go for fresh polls to steer the nation towards political stability as per people’s will. The PM deduced Nepal faction hindered the party establishment work aimed at driving Nepal to a stage of prosperity and happiness.

The circular, also analyzing the UML’s three years in power, says the role of Nepal faction and Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda, with their personal ulterior motives, led to the Supreme Court annulling the unification between the two parties. The Supreme Court permanently closed the doors for unification.

Regardless of the spilt of erstwhile Nepal Communist Party into former states, the PM is of the view that the UML at present is stronger with the induction of Maoist Center’s influential leaders into the UML. He says the new entrants to the party along with existing rank and file would work to strengthen the party and make it more relevant in the Communist movement.
