CIAA demands financial transaction documents from NTB

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has come under the scrutiny of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) after questions were raised on financial transparency along with the recent dispute.

The CIAA has asked the NTB for necessary documents after complaints of irregularities against suspended Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dhananjay Regmi.

The Authority has launched an investigation into allegations that CEO Regmi had illegally paid for the construction of his office against the Public Procurement Act.

A committee has been formed under the coordination of Tourism Board Vice-Chairman Chandra Rijal to investigate the issue.

Regmi, who was appointed for a four-year term, was dragged into controversy after a video of him assaulting a customs official while fetching six bottles of liquor while returning from the UK with two years left in his term.
