UML Gen Convention: Rawal to contest elections with Oli for the post of chair, Bhusal for vice chair



CHITWAN: Despite efforts rendered to elect leadership unanimously, the 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML has headed for elections, eventually.

Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal and Deputy General Secretary Ghana Shayam Bhusal are contesting the elections.

Chairman Oli had announced the name-list of 19 office-bearers and 301 CC members on Sunday night. Bhim Rawal announced his candidature for the post of chairperson and Deputy General Secretary Bhusal has said that he would field himself for the post of vice chairperson.

The elections process has already begun this morning. The deadline for nomination has been set from 8 am to 9 am.
According to Dr. Bijaya Subba, the chief of the Election Commission, a preliminary name-list of candidates will be published at 10 am. Similarly, complaints against the candidates can be lodged by 10:45 am.

The decision on the complaints will be made following an investigation at 10:50 am, according to the schedule.

Likewise, candidates have been asked to withdraw their names by 12 noon. The final list of the candidates will be published at 12:5 pm.
The voting will begin from 9 pm today and last till 3 am (Tuesday).
