KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three foreign nationals with 2 kg 966 grams of cocaine.
The Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police made public the arrested at a press conference held in the capital Sunday.
The arrested have been identified as Gertude Leonard Kimaro, a Tanzanian national, who was arrested from Khurkot in Sindhuli while escaping to India, and South African national Sarli Gama and Indian national Vijay Singh, who were nabbed from Kathmandu. Gama was held from a hotel in Kamaladi.
Police said the market value of cocaine seized from them was Rs 90 million.
South African national Gama arrived in Kathmandu from a Qatar Air flight on August 19 from Cape Town via Doha. Gama gave a statement to the police that he brought the drug from South Africa. Likewise, Tanzanian citizen Kimaro was preparing to take the cocaine to India from Nepal.
Police added Indian national Singh was also involved in criminal activities.
Police are further investigating the case.
