NC panel submits report to President Deuba, office bearers to resolve issues in five days

Disputes related to active membership still exists in Saptari, Bara, Dhanusha, Sarlahi-2, Sindhupalchok and Rasuwa

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) active membership probe committee has submitted a report to party president Sher Bahadur Deuba leaving disputes in some of the districts intact and office bearers have been tasked to resolve issues within five days.

Ramesh Lekhak, coordinator of the committee, submitted the report at a meeting of office bearers held at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha Thursday.

Though the investigation committee was given till Thursday to submit the report after resolving the active membership dispute, the committee submitted the report only by correcting few mistakes. Leaders said disputes still existed in Saptari, Bara, Dhanusha, Sarlahi-2, Sindhupalchok and Rasuwa.

Committee Coordinator Lekhak said the report was submitted to the party and now the meeting of the office bearers decided to resolve the disputes by holding discussion among leaders. He said leaders expressed their commitment to resolve the disputes within five days.  Lekhak added that the party was seriously discussing to hold the general convention on time.

Similarly, NC leader Pradip Poudel said only 4 percent work was left and it would not affect the General Convention. He said if the election committee speeds up its work, the general convention will be held on time.

Leaders said the inclusion of leaders from other parties and problems seen in some districts and constituencies were yet to be resolved. Due to the active membership dispute, the party’s ward level convention was postponed.
