KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) central member Dr Shekhar Koirala has demanded the leadership to initiate the process to hold the party’s 14th general convention within the stipulated time.

Koirala, taking on his Twitter, said that process has not progressed even though the meeting of office bearers and former office bearers has been held regularly.

The schedule of the General Convention has already been affected as the party has not yet decided when the ward convention — which had to be held on July 27 — will be organized.

The party is marred by disputes concerning the active membership of the Nepali Congress.

The probe committee led by Ramesh Lekhak has been given time till 2 pm on Thursday to resolve the dispute.

Dr Koirala has said that the legitimacy of the party would end if the general convention was not held on time.

He said that the process of our General Convention should be carried out within the constitutional limits.
