Budget 2021/22: Most debated Constituency Development Fund revoked



KATHMANDU: The government has scrapped the most debated Constituency Development Fund later renamed as ‘Local Infrastructure Development Program (LIDP)’ effective from the fiscal year 2021/22.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has informed that the Fund allocated to each lawmakers to facilitate the development activities in their constituencies has been revoked saying that budget is needed to control the pandemic.

Last year, then Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada had been unable to scrap LIDP despite the concerns expressed over the misuse of the fund.
