Cabinet approves budget, sends 3 ordinances to President for certification



KATHMANDU: A cabinet meeting has recommended President Bidya Bhandari to issue a budget ordinance to bring the new budget for the fiscal year 2021/22.

The cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official residence in Baluwatar approved the budget submitted by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel before sending three ordinances to Shital Niwas for cirtification, informed Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung.

The new budget will be presented once President Bhandari issues the budget ordinance. The government is unveiling a new budget at 4 pm today through ordinance despite objections from the opposition parties.

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel will present the new budget from the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Many people are cautiously eying the budget whether it will prioritize the health sector or not, since it is being brought amid the COVID-9.

Earlier, nine former vice-chairmen of National Planning Commission (NPC) have suggested not to bring budget from the ordinance.
