KATHMANDU: Veteran communist leader Bishnu Bahadur Manandhar died on Monday evening. He was 91.
Manandhar died at Patan Hospital where he was receiving treatment for a month, his son-in-law Dr Narayan Shrestha said.
Manandhar was in the politics raising voices for the country and people joining anti-Rana movement. Manandhar, who never accepted the state’s official position, played crucial roles to unite Nepal’s communist movement.
According to former minister Ganesh Shah, Manandhar remained as a humble politician dedicating his entire life for the interest of the people.
Manandhar leaves behind a son and three daughters. His son Sunil Manandhar is the leader of CPN (Maoist Centre).
The final rites of leader Manandhar would be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat on Tuesday morning, a family source said.
