KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has clarified that it has not taken any decision on the recognition of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) since no faction has applied for its official recognition.

According to Election Commissioner Ishwori Paudel, the EC has not taken any official decision.

He said this after holding discussion with leaders of the NCP’s KP Oli faction on Friday.

Paudel said that both the factions — led by PM Oli and Prachanda-Nepal — have asked the EC to update the decision that they have taken.

“How can we split the party to grant official recognition they have not asked?” he asked.

Paudel further stated that the current dispute in the NCP was a dispute between brothers yet to file a case on inheritance of property. “Here, I am trying to say that making disputes means they have not parted their ways.”
