Regmi secures NC Dailekh presidency

KATHMANDU: Maniram Regmi has been elected Nepali Congress’ Dailekh President on Sunday.

Regmi secured 791 votes against opponent Ghanshyam Bhandari’s 745 votes.

Regmi’s panel bagged victory in the district. Namaraj Shahi and Rita Shahi were elected vice presidents, Narayan Regmi and Khem Oli were elected secretaries. Likewise, Mahendra Shahi and Kanak Sena were elected joint secretaries.

The winning panel in Dailekh is close to senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.

Of the two federal constituencies in Dailekh, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s group secured win in one constituency and the Poudel faction in another.

However, the Poudel group has at least 40 delegates to the NC’s 14th general convention.
